STRATMOR Group regularly sponsors one-day workshops --- often held at multiple locations across the country --- in which senior mortgage executives meet in small groups with their counterparts at other firms to discuss "hot" industry issues or major developments.
Unlike most industry conferences in which attendees sit passively in an audience and have little or no opportunity to interact with speakers, panelists and attendees, STRATMOR Group workshops --- which typically involve 10-20 participants --- afford participants ample time to ask questions, exchange views and develop professional relationships with other attendees that typically extend beyond the workshop.
Recently, for example, STRATMOR Group joined with the Washington, DC law firm of Weiner Brodsky Sidman Kider PC, to sponsor one-day workshops held in three locations that addressed the numerous issues and ambiguities associated with new regulations issued by the Federal Reserve Board governing the compensation of loan originators. Prior to each meeting, attendees were provided a comprehensive document, prepared jointly by STRATMOR Group and WBSK, that featured a long list Q&As that teed-up and analyzed the key issues and questions that attendees said they wanted to discuss.
More than 60 executives representing more than 50 firms attended these workshops, which were characterized by vigorous discussions and debates over both what was legal and what was good policy. Virtually all of the attendees expressed that the workshop was by far their most valuable source of information and ideas for purposes of planning their revised loan originator compensation plans.
