One of the best analogies we've heard recently is the tried and true IFR vs VFR - Instrument Flight Rules vs Visual Flight Rules. As leaders, we are blind to most things which cannot be measured. Those are the things we used to see and feel daily. We are missing those things...

"Is Sam OK today, they looked a bit out-of-sorts."
"Wow, Pat is practically walking on air today..."

One thing we've learned is that reports don't show much at all about the day. The real day. More than ever before those reports have less meaning. The true day will only come from more conversations and dialogue.

Those micro conversations that could continue throughout the day or week are missing. No report can create that connection. It's all about the communication and relationships!
